These Red Shoes

This was designed for my friend's going away present. Any time she wore these red pair of shoes, Remy would go absolutely MAD for them! Rolling around like it was laced with catnip goodness. Pierre, being the one to not appreciate Remy's happiness would deliberately lie in front of 1 or both shoes, guarding them, much like the bully he is. Sometimes I would grab one of the shoes from Pierre and let Remy have his fun for a few fleeting moments.

This past Friday, episode # 1003-035 "The Purge" aired on Cartoon Network. Finally! This scene took place inside Bauman's Alien Market. To save time, in then 2nd background I only painted the overlay and some other details that might not be covered in the first layout. Does that make me lazy or smart? Yes.

With the weather so nice these days, you would think I would be out and about doing some landscape paintings. But this is a lie! Because this photo is from a year ago, but hopefully, it will inspire me to go back out there instead of locking myself in my office, painting on the computer in the dark.

I think this was taken over in Eaton Canyon last summer. I actually do not recall what I was painting, I just know it must not have been very good since it was so difficult for me to get back in to the rhythm. And I probably threw this painting away. But it does provide a nice photograph, don't you think?

I think this was of some machine someone was using to tear through the Null Void sky in the episode "Voided". There were 3 different variations of this particular background but I decided to pick this one because it was nice and gaudy. Who doesn't love bright beams of light and swirls in the sky?

Per request of some people, I am now back to putting up some color BGs from Ben10. I was hoping I would have uploaded some more personal work, but that didn't happen. I'm sure people are tired of looking at pictures of my cats.. These two BGs are from the episode "Paradox" where there was a time traveling monster who burned thru or aged any surface he came into contact with. I mean, what else could these BGs be about?

Living Room

I need some photographs in my living room above my couch. I was thinking about blowing this photo up and partnering it with another somewhat abstract glacier photo. Haven't decided which one yet, but ideally, I want them both to be of a vertical orientation to somewhat create perpendicular angles with the couch and crown molding. But this is the original photo, I have to figure out at which angle I want to rotate it. Oooooh, pretty blue and brown!

It's BIGGER in Alaska!

So I went to Alaska last month, just a couple weeks after they announced the Republican running mate. Now, I don't want to talk about politics here, but I was so elated to leave Palinland and come back to California where the sensible minded people resided. My family and I took a hundred bajillion photos and now I leave you with just a taste of with a few from my meager Casio point and shoot camera. I hope I get another chance to see such sublime natural life before we destroy it ourselves.

This was during one of those excruciatingly hot weekends in Southern California. We went up to Santa Barbara and encountered the Summer Solstice parade. While everyone held up their tiny digital cameras, perfectly composing their subject, I enjoyed being the only freak to lug around an enormous plastic green camera, forced to bring the viewfinder up to my left eye.

I'm sure most of you have seen Solvang in the movie "Sideways". But who knew it would be a blistering ~105 degrees while we walked around staring at windmills and stores that were smart enough to close shop early. Thank god for the few stores that were open and had signs up in their windows stating "We have air-conditioning!"

Some of you may know, I purchased a 120mm Holga camera out of curiosity. In case you aren't familiar with this camera, its a cheap, plastic medium format camera originally made in Hong Kong. Because it's not the most sophisticated and durable piece of equipment out there, a lot of light can leak in through the film. However, in it's own right, this cheap little thing has created its own genre titled "Lomography" consisting of "happy mistakes" once the film is developed and revealed - ooOOoohh how foreign! (for more info go to www.lomography.com). It's always a nice surprise when I receive my roll of film and photos back from Samy's! As you can see, it doesn't have an automatic way to advance the film, therefore, one is able to take multiple exposures on a single frame. Fortunately, my camera is equipped with the oh-so sophisticated color flash/gels, creating some nice haunting images. There is a lot of vignetting around the image but it does create a nice halo around the subject. I do have to admit I was struggling with the shutter at first and wasn't advancing the film properly so that is why you see some images cut off and placed on to the next photo. This is just my first roll... just wait until I waste even more money, the more obsessed I get...

Gee, finally, an oil painting I can post. Even though this is only 4x4" it took me forever to finish. Rather took me forever to remember to finish. I painted this for my friend, Jeff, who loves octopuses and what better way to show one than having it fart out purple ink!?! *Le sigh*, I think my easel misses me.

I will be the first to admit that I used reference from Richard Kim's bg from another series to do this background but I was somewhat happy with how it turned out. You will see I had to do a cloud OL, for me, clouds are the most frustrating thing in the world. How do you make them look natural and not like a stamp? Errrrrr......

Ahhhh... interesting how this BG of Gotham reminds me of my childhood.. when we would drive up to SF Chinatown and I would get carsick sitting in the backseat of my dad's car and then hiking up the steep hills carrying bags of groceries. Now I should have painted Candlestick park (3Comm or whatever the hell it's called now) in the background somewhere...

So I'm back at WB on the Batman for it's 5th season. And thanks to the Blog Nazi (aka bvietti), I have been informed that I need to update my blog site. I'm curious to see how this season turns out considering our crew has been cut in half. Hmmmm... But yes, that is what I have been up to for the past month. Since I probably should hold off from posting any 5th season BGs, I'll post one from 4th season entitled "Clayfaces" directed by Mr. Matt Youngberg. This bg is where the two Clayfaces fight each other on the bridge. My favorite line from that episode: "Get out of me!!!"

So recently I have been spending money for my friend, Jane's wedding, coming up at the end of this June. I'll have to fly to Albany to be her maid of honor and sit through a Catholic wedding, with full on mass! SOEXCITED! I've been planning her bridal shower which is coming up next month. I thought it would be cool to buy this Pink Head Tiara by Tarina Tarantino for her as a bridal shower gift. But guess how much this tiara is?? $500!!! WHAT THE? They Asked for Something Pretty of San Francisco

Here's a pretty piece I did for Yangsta and his wife, Shirley. I suck at taking photos of my paintings. I opted to get it framed myself because I wanted the frame to be apart of the overall experience. I didn't know where to get it custom framed (all other things i either frame myself or my mom framed it for me when i was a kid). I have seen Grey Goose (not the vodka) on several corners in the Miracle Mile and Los Feliz area. They did a really nice job however, I think I spent over $250 on a simple 11" x 14" canvas board painting. Does anyone know of other excellent frame shops who are less expensive?

Does this look like Eddie Griffin to you? I did this painting a few years ago based off a live model in painting class. I featured it at a lil art show we had at work and everyone came up to me asking if it was Eddie Griffin. Well, if I say no, then am I a bad artist because I don't recall the model resembling Mr. Griffin. Darn it, this photograph is a lil hard to read. I invite you to see the live painting at my friend, Jeff's new condo, as he asked if he could hang it on his wall because it otherwise, sits in my closet with all my other oil paintings.
